Born the son of an enslaved woman and white plantation owner, Bologne was a violin virtuoso and famed fencer who rose to stardom in Paris during the French Revolution. The concert also includes Sibelius’s heart-wrenching Valse triste and Mozart’s Symphony No. 40.
