0:00

ArtChangeUS@Kennedy Center National Conversations continues with a dialogue between cultural activist Liz Medicine Crow (Haida/Tlingit), President and CEO of First Alaskans Institute, and Ty Defoe (Giizhiig, Ojibwe + Onieda), a two-spirit writer and interdisciplinary artist whose art making challenges formulas of colonialism. They will explore the theme Water is Life: Living Our Legacy. What role do artists and cultural activists play in promoting tribal self-determination, and in advancing cultural equity. Can we re-idigenize the arts by integrating Native knowledge and values into organizational culture, social structure and daily life? And how can understanding the importance of water help us to co-create the future and live our legacy now? ArtChangeUS@Kennedy Center National Conversations is a series of dialogues between prominent artists and pivotal change-makers who are advancing a pluralistic vision of America. #KCNationalConvo Subscribe to The Kennedy Center! http://bit.ly/2gNFrtb
