Derrick Hodge - "Anthem"

Bassist and composer Derrick Hodge performs selections from his debut Blue Note Records recording, Live Today, with Federico Peña, keyboards, Michael Aaberg, keyboards, Keyon Harrold, trumpet, and Mark Colenburg, drums. Having served as sideman to the likes of Terence Blanchard and Robert Glasper, Hodge firmly steps out as leader as the New York Times states, “with roots in gospel, jazz and R&B….bearing earnest intentions and a glow of transparent optimism.” Part of Blue Note at 75. The Millennium Stage is a FREE performance series and part of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. It features a broad spectrum of national and international performing arts companies, from dance and jazz, to chamber music and folk, comedy, storytelling and theater, every day of the year.
